Reminding Guests about the Wedding

We have a few people who have rsvp'd but my gut is telling me they won't show. On one hand (and this is terrible) I don't care if they don't show. On the other, I'll feel bad for FH because they're his guests. Should we call to check in and make sure they're coming? We're adults so I shouldn't have...

Mine is at a State Park so I'll be paying for their parking. We could send out texts / emails a day or so before saying something along the lines of "Looking forward to celebrating with you on Saturday! Mention the wedding at the gate for entry." and use that as sort of a disguised reminder. Also as one person mentioned above, is it better to purposely give your caterer a lower count and just made sure they'd be able to accommodate "extras"? My RSVPs have a protein choice so I'd hope that no one would RSVP 'yes' knowing we're putting an order in and then not show but I know it happens.
