View Quoted Comment Exactly this ! That's why I mentioned earlier "it's not WHAT you say, it's HOW you say it". You can most definitely have a differing opinion but there's no need to be harsh and mean. It's just a wedding after all. There are bigger things in the world going on.

My two cents: Some posters ask a question that is out there, like "Hey folks! I want to have our wedding in our backyard. I am hiring my co-worker to be the officiant, it will BYOB, my family will self cater and who needs a tent?" I am exaggerating for effect, of course but then the responses are 99% saying "Oh to the hell NO!" and Original Poster gets defensive. Then comes the 1% saying "You go girl...IT IS YOUR DAY!" You come on a public forum and ask for advice, you are going to get it.

I agree that text can not invoke emotion and can come off as flat - but that is how a forum likes this works. It sounds like "50-100 people ganging up on a bride" is simply many posters coming in and saying, no please don't self cater, don't BYOB, etc......and that is seen, sadly, as ganging up on someone.
