Remember to be kind to your vendors!
Our design vendor and I had a phone call 2 days ago because we had a few things to go over before I get the final count and final payment.
She owns a lot of decor herself, but also rents and only charges her clients the rental price of those items. She is super sweet and so accommodating.
I asked her how things have been on her side with Covid. She said mostly it’s been okay, she is doing everything she can when it comes to rescheduling and getting brides their money back if they had to cancel, and that most brides are understanding when things don’t go in their favor 100%.
Now for the bad part. She now has a single couple, and their friends trashing her on social media and leaving really bad reviews. This couple rescheduled 4 times. Now they are demanding ALL Their money back. She is unable to give them their money back because she used the retainer to buy these special table clothes they requested, that they knew couldn’t be rented. She refunded the money for the items that were already in her storage but she can’t return money for the table cloths she bought and the rented items (they postponed one day before the wedding so she already had the items.) That money is gone now.
I say all this to just remind all of us (including myself!) that our vendors are going through a lot. Some have lost their sole income. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt when they don’t respond within the amount of time we think they should. Be sure to tell them how thankful you are for them, and above all else, leave them the review they deserve!
