Rehearsal Dinner ?

FutureMrsHodges, on September 22, 2011 at 7:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

How would you feel about having a rehearsal dinner at a buffet place ? I ask because it's a Golden Corral across the street from our venue and FH suggested it for the rehearsal dinner. So I looked into it and they have a private room for no additional charge. We would only have to pay for each person buffet and drink, which is about $12.00 pp. The manager evne said he will give us a discount if we pay for more than 25 buffets.

Honest feedback !

We were considering having our rehearsal dinner at a buffet at the casino down the street from our church! The only thing that stopped us was that it was $25 dollars a person and we didn't want to spend $700 on the rehearsal, we wanted to try to keep it between $300-$500.

FH and I are doing a buffet for the rehearsal dinner as well. It is $9.95 pp plus tax and without beverage. Beverages are $2-3 pp.

We are doing ours at a Hibachi buffet. It's like $10 pp.

but..my real plan hopefully is that we will be setting up the hall the night before, so if I get my wish, we will have our rehearsal dinner there...and will order a bunch of pizzas! LOL

There are no real requirements for a rehearsal dinner, both than that it include everyone who is in the rehearsal (if there is one) and their spouses/FIs/live-in partners. Our rehearsal dinner (with no actual rehearsal) was a bunch of pizzas delivered to the house where everyone was staying. So a buffet should be fine.

We initially thought of doing it flashmob style... like at a certain time we would swoop in and lay out table cloths and centerpieces in the middle of Golden Corral, but we didnt have enough time to pull it off. So we are going to a semi-private sports bar buffet kinda thing.

I think it depends on the style and formality of your wedding. If that is somewhere your guests would enjoy, than I suppose you could consider it.

I think it is a great idea. We will be doing the same, or ordering pizzas. Guess it depends on what mood I'm in that day since I have a very small wedding party and no spouses etc. to consider. I might just take a vote on the spot and go with it. I have a "NOT willing to stress over it" list and this is on it!

I think people are just happy with getting food. If it fits in your budget and you like the food there i say go for it.

The Rehearsal Dinner is what you (and the host) want it to be. No right or wrong at all.

Great idea they have great food & a ton of options for your guests. I like the idea because if you chose a sit down dinner people would only be able to eat so much & may not be satisfied, having it there they can eat ALL they want!! You don't have to worry about having a huge bill afterwards either :-)

We are doing a buffet too, they have like a separate booth area; I don't think it matters how formal your wedding is, it's whatever you and whoever is paying for it are okay with..our RD will be pretty small anyways and everyone is laid back and not snobby, so it's fine :-)
