Rehearsal Dinner

Erinn, on July 17, 2019 at 1:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 36
Rehearsal dinner or no? I'm debating on not having a rehearsal dinner, my FH and I are already paying for most of the wedding ourselves (which its our wedding I don't expect anyone to pay for anything). Is it wrong to not host one ? No one has offered and my mom is already hosting the wedding shower ( again no one is obligated to host it for us) i'm not upset, trust me lol, just wondering if any of you have opted out of rehearsal dinner and if so do you regret doing so ?

If you don'd do a rehearsal its fine not to have a dinner, but if you are expecting people to come out and have a rehearsal you should be feeding them. It could just be pizza and wings or a BBQ back at you place. That the general rule, if you have a rehearsal then a dinner should be provided for everyone.

You could do a small bbq or pizza party with just your party if your ceremony is small.

No worries. We get so caught up in making everything an event sometimes. Trust me, you can feed your party anything and they’ll appreciate it. 😁

If you have a rehearsal, you have to feed the people involved, but it can be as simple as you can afford (order in pizzas)— it’s just a good way to thank them for taking the time to rehearse!
BUT a rehearsal isn’t necessary, and no dinner or event is necessary if you don’t rehearse!

We skipped the rehearsal all together. We did host a “welcome reception” of late snacks and drinks right near the hotel the night before the wedding for those who had traveled. Not that you need one of those events either, just giving ideas on alternative events Smiley smile

Yes to the pizza! That's what we're planning to have for our rehearsal dinner!

The wedding I'm in this fall, the bride is just hosting pizza and salads back her their house after the rehearsal! She wanted to be in a comfortable environment and thought everyone would appreciate it!

We won't be having a rehearsal dinner but we will be having a ceremony rehearsal. I'm with you. I rather not have to pay for anything extra cause my fiance and I are paying for our own wedding as well (with SOME help from my mom - on her own accord) but we just felt the rehearsal dinner to be unnecessary.

We are not doing a rehearsal or a rehearsal dinner. I think it is an unnecessary expense.

This is my 2nd marriage. The first wedding we had a 30 minute rehearsal at the church and we then let our wedding party know we would not be hosting an official dinner but if they would like to join us at a local restaurant for dinner and drinks. That worked out great. This time we are just purchasing pizza, drinks, and my fmil is making a dessert. I don't think you need to host a dinner. Others may tell you different but you have to do what is best for you and your FH.

We are planning a laidback rehearsal dinner. We are going to have beer, salad and good pizza under our wedding tent at my dad’s house. Rehearsal dinners don’t have to be expensive.

A rehearsal dinner is only necessary if you’re rehearsing.

Yeah we will actually only be having a ceremony rehearsal too because the church has us schedule it and the reception venue charges for it so we are skipping out on that lol But a lot of people have posted about having pizza as the dinner, I may consider that.. lol

Do you have a hotel with a room block? A lot of hotels have a small meeting/conference room that they’ll let you use for free/cheap if you’ve booked enough rooms there. You could get the room and bring back some pizzas for your bridal party after the rehearsal.
