Rehearsal Dinner — Who normally plans this??

Cindy, on May 4, 2010 at 10:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I'm a little frustrated trying to find a place to have our rehearsal dinner. All the restaurants in the area are so overpriced! ugh. But I was wondering if it's my responsibility to plan this or is it up the FILs since they are paying? I have so many other things to be planning!!

Usually, the groom's parents plan the rehearsal dinner, which is customary. However, these days no one follows the etiquette to a "t", so it is no longer set in stone. Talk to them and find out! Good luck!

Yeah I think the grooms family is in charge of it... and if his family is paying but doesn't want to plan it then get your groom on it! haha... you are planning the whole wedding I think that it's nice for them to host another event where you can just relax and enjoy... maybe do a catered bbq cook out or just an informal one if you want to save money....

Yep, the grooms family plans it. *sigh* which means that my daughters FMIL in planning hers...and it will suck. This woman has no clue how to plan her way out of her own house, away from Farmville! LOL!

Tradition is that since the bride's parents are supposed to pay for the wedding, the grooms parents pay for the rehearsal dinner. But really, it just doesn't happen like that anymore! LOL My fiance' and I are paying for everything! Can't we all just follow tradition dangit!!

Didn't even know that. My FMIL hasn't mentioned a word about the rehearsal dinner/pay etc. I think we're on our own for that.

We are hosting the rehersal dinner at our house,

We are having a back yard BBQ ,

we wanted something informal where people could just meet and greet and partake in conversations, something often difficult to do in a busy noisy restaurant.

LOL Kathy my future mother in law keep her house sooo messy that I would have to walk on candy wrapper on floor. She is always on Farmville as well but I do think my FH's parents won't get us rehearsal dinner which is fine with me lol.

FILs should plan it...not only due to the fact that they are paying, but also because you have enough on your plate with planning the wedding!!! I've left everything up to my FILs when it comes to the rehearsal. They ask me questions about what they should do, etiquette, etc- but they are making all the arangements.
