Rehearsal dinner--valet wording

AprilBride, on January 11, 2015 at 6:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi all! My FMIL and I have been discussing rehearsal dinner invites. The restaurant where we are having the dinner is taking place downtown on the water, where parking is often a problem. The restaurant offers valet parking, which we are going to pay for.

How do I make this clear on the rehearsal dinner invite? I wouldn't worry about it except I'm concerned some guests will try and park in some of the (pricy) public parking lots or parallel somewhere and pay the meter. Finding these spots would be difficult for our guests in the first place, so I want to let them know they don't need to worry about it, they should just head to the restaurant and we'll take care of it.

Thoughts?

I would add: Complimentary valet parking available.

Thanks, Erica, that's good advice. I fear FMIL will think that wording implies the valet is free, not hosted, which is another topic for another thread.

What about something like: Valet parking has been provided for

Ugh, I don't like that either, smh.

KitandKaboodle, valet services provided could work. Thanks!

I might say something like "Please enjoy valet parking, compliments of the hosts" - you could name the hosts, if you want, but I'd want it clear that the valet is truly hosted. Lots of places here have "Free" valet parking but I wouldn't use it on my own, but if it was obvious the hosts expected us to, I'd be more likely. Do they need to give the valets your name or a ticket or anything?

I would also want to make sure they know the valet was being hosted and not "free" so the valets don't get double-tipped. Valet parking is provided, complimentary of the hosts (or name them). Something like that!

I second exactly what goskell said above. You definitely need to say it's complimentary so they know it is free.

I might even say 'we have arranged for complimentary valet parking' so they would know it was something you had put in place and they definitely should use it.
