regular dress size vs wedding dress

Hi ladies! So my thing is this. I wear a regular size 10 but the wedding dress that fit me perfectly was a size 12. Just wondering if regular sizes are different from wedding dress sizes.

Haha I'm about a 16 street size. I got fitted at DB for a bridesmaid dress for another wedding and got size 20. Went to the Wedding Shoppe for my wedding dress walked out with a size 28 dress. The numbers mean nothing!! haha

I'm normally a size 2-4 I nbn dresses depending on the brand, but my wedding dress is an Essence of Australia in a size 10...all they are going to do alteration-wise is the bust, the arms and the length. So it depends on the designer. I asked the consultant I had because I was completely horrified at the fact a size 10 fit me.

It can vary by designer. Each designer should have measurements set for each dress size. You would want to use that as a guide.

I wear an 8 in pants and a 6 in dresses. I have a BIG but. My butt wouldn't fit in the size 12 dresses so I ended up with a 16 that has to be taken in a lot. Talk about a shot to my self esteem. I'm not little by any means but dang, I'm not that big.

Definitely depends on the dress/designer. I'm a 2 normally, and at DB size 4 fit like a glove, but the dress I ended up purchasing elsewhere is a size 10 and fits perfectly!

Holy crap you just eased my mind!!! I am usually a size 4 in dresses and my waist and hips a 6. But the sample gown was an 8 and fit my hips perfectly. I ordered the 8 to take in the top part of my dress. I have been freaking out thinking I shouldn’t have done that.

No problem! Mine is a bit big in the top/chest part as well, but fits my waist and hips perfectly, so I'll have it taken in a bit! I just got it in after ordering it back in February and I LOVE it!
