We purposely made a small registry (approx 80 items) for our 160 person wedding because we are (politely) trying to hint that we would prefer cash. We really want to buy a house following the wedding, so any monetary gifts will go towards a house down payment. I ended up having two showers thrown for me (one has passed, one is this weekend) and after the showers the registry will likely be empty. It has about 15 items left now.
Some guests (including my grandparents and a coworker) have mentioned that my registry is "very empty" and that I need to "add more stuff to it". We honestly don't need anymore stuff! FH and I have lived together for several years and already have too much stuff in our apartment as-is. There is literally nothing else I can add.
What do I say when people mention my registry being small? Is it rude to say "We have a small registry because we really don't need many things. We're actually hoping to buy a house following the wedding." How would you word this?
