Registry: How many items?

Miss Michal, on November 14, 2010 at 5:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

So I added my honeypie to our Amazon registry yesterday (he wasn't all that interested until I told him he could put a deer rifle on it--see previous discussion) and between us we've come up with quite a list. How much stuff is too much stuff to have on your registry?

You should take the amount of people you are having at your shower and register for double the amount of people. this way people have a variety of things and prices to choose from. we are having 90 people at my shower so we are registering to 160-180 gifts, but a lot of them are multiples, like we need x amount of placemats, dish sets, table cloths, glasses..etc...

The important thing is to have a variety of things in various price ranges so that your guests do not feel obliged to spend any given amount.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm not having a shower. For the wedding, I'm sending out 40 invites (100 guests). I figured I'd register for 30-40 items.

You always want double your guests. If you have 50 then you want 100 gifts. I can not tell you how many times we have ppl come in and have fits because there is only one sheet of paper left to chose from. Just make sure to keep an I on your registery and add to it when it gets low.

As the saying goes, double the amount of guests. we didn't do that though, we just put a HUGE variety of prices... 99.9% of our guests gave us cash or a check. we did get a few things from the registry but that was given during the bridal shower.

I agree with the others. Double the guest list and have at least that many items. You'll want a good bit of cheap items on there (under $25) for people like co-workers and casual aquaintances, and then you'll want more expensive items as well. The really big items (like the Dyson vacuums I have heard lots of others mentioning) might have several family members go in together to get that for you. Especially if they know that is the one thing that you're really hoping to get.

Ive wondered this myself. I think I do have about twice as many items as guests. But on women told my FH she didnt think we had enough on there. I added a couple more things, but realized, Id much rather get all the things on there now then put other crap on there I dont want and not get the things I actually need (towels, sheets, etc)

I have about 250 people invited to the wedding, 2 showers about 30 people each at those events. Target I have 18 things (they deleted my registry 3 weeks ago and my first shower is NEXT week), maybe 50 (some double stuff like towels) on Kohl's, and then my Amazon list has 21 things (although the Amazon registry has some pricer items like a television which is our most expensive thing at $428). Ugh, I'm not good with this stuff, honestly.

Im having two receptions, one will be about 65 people, the other will be 40 at the max. I had 15 at shower (but asked for contributions to very small local honeymoon stay). My target registry has 85 items on it. That includes multiples (ex 4 cups, count as 4 items). My Bed Bath and Beyond registry has approx 10 items on it again counting multiples....The first reception is in a month, the second is in 4 months. The majority of the items fall in the 2-50 range,3 items are in the 50_70 range, and I do have a kitchen aid mixer on there(299) ,but I opted to pay for my own gown and my dad is purchasing the mixer instead....As of now I have received 5 items all 10_40 each and thats from just two guests...Neither of which were close friends or family!....In conclusion register for more not less....Even if it is uncomfortable (it is).
