Registry at REI?

I think I am a little uptight about certain things, the registry is one thing. We registerd at BBB and Sur Le Table, I personally don't like any registries that aren't 'setting up the house' type registries (I'll buy you that camera or cut you a check for $150 if that's what you want) but for me its traditional for me..

But FH really wants an REI registry and I felt it was inappropriate but now I'm thinking am I being too uptight? should I throw him a bone and make a small REI registry? Do I need to take a chill pill?

FWI: He is a climber and outdoor guy and I am a skier and outdoor enthusiast so it is 'us'

I went to a wedding a couple years ago where the couple registered at REI. Their honeymoon was backpacking through Europe so it made sense. I say go for it. If it makes sense for the couple, people shouldn't complain.

We're registering at Home Depot because that's what FH wants. If people don't want to buy from there, then they don't have to. It's not like you're guaranteed to get everything or anything from the registry.

SupermanBride, I am so jealous! Our HomeDepot told us they don't do registries anymore. Boo!

People will only buy from where they feel comfortable, so as long as you don't JUST have an REI registry, I don't think its a problem.

We have an Amazon registry and used their universal registry option to add a few things from REI. We go camping together a lot so I feel like it is a great contribution to our married life just as much as pots and pans would be. We stuck to things that would get mutual use though, like a new tent, not individual supplies.
