red bumps on back of arms?

soon to be..., on November 9, 2009 at 9:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Anyone else have those little red bumps on the back of their arms? I know about 50% of the population does!! If so, has anyone found anything that works to either make them less red or a smear-proof weatproof, indestructible make-up that I could wear on wedding day to cover them up? any advice is appreciated!!

I have them too! I think at some times they're worse than others b/c I have had someone ask what was wrong with me lol

If I can I will definitely make an appointment with a dermatologist before the wedding!

The bumps are called Keratosis Pilaris - I am an aesthetician at a dermatology office as well as bridesweb. Covering them up will only inflame them. Using an Alpha Hydroxy wash and lotion will clear them up - but not over night. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

I have eczema and I use a salve prepared by my herbalist; it's blended with st. john's wort. It works and it's cheap! Here's one site that sells it: http://www.localharvest.org/arnica-st-johns-wort-salve-C5494?r=fr. That may be another route to consider.

Also, check the mayo clinic site for treatments. There are also natural home remedies you can try first before going to a dermatologist. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/keratosis-pilaris/DS00769/DSECTION=lifestyle-and-home-remedies

Eczema and Keratosis Pilaris are two different skin afflictions.

I know I have little bumps on my arms. They don't bug me a whole lot, but if I want them to fade a bit, I just lay off dairy for a few days. Especially milk.

Just to throw it out, a good MUA is a worthy investment. I shot a wedding a week and a half ago, that the bride had a large noticeable scar on her forearm from a childhood injury. It was almost completely invisible on her wedding day, which meant she doesn't have to spend the money on having it photoshopped out!

I use Eucerin. I'm still using it but it has smoothed the bumps out. another friend of mine went to the dermatologist and got a prescription and hers went away too. the best thing is they dont come back after they are gone.

I have also run into that problem myself. While we may not have exactly the same thing on the back of my arm. My doctor told me that I needed more fatty acids (Omega 3) in my system. Perhaps it's the same thing. I took an Omega-3 pill for a while, and it really helped. Basically, it was a fish oil pill. It is also supposed to help your hair be more soft and shiny - so that is an added advantage.

I have it on my thighs. So annoying, I hate it. One of my sisters has it too. We've both gone to different dermotologists. They have all said they can give you something for the bumps, but really nothing is going to make them go away.

It occurs on the upper arms and thighes. Follicles get clogged with skin skins and the follicles get congested; cells are are not turning over. You can control KP but you can't make it go away. If you can find a Glytone KP Kit or something similar, that just totally gets it under control - I think we used to sell them for $50.

Yep, it's nicknamed "chicken skin" I'm going to see if there is some form of photorejuvenation laser I can get.
