Recessional Music...Not sure if we should keep it traditonal

Delectable Darla, on August 24, 2012 at 5:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

So my FH & I Have been talking about our music choices for the cermony and we thought it would be fun to choose something different than the wedding march. Is anyone else changing it up? If so i'm curious to know what you went with.

Sorry I meant when your exiting the cermony. I want something fun...but not sure if it would come off as tacky.

I think the recessional is always an exciting time and people would enjoy something light-hearted. I would definitely go with a fun song for the recessional, even if you do the traditional bridal march when you walk down the aisle.

We weren't traditional at all. Our Recessional song was "A Whole new World" From Aladdin. Smiley smile

We're probably going to use "i'm yours" by jason mraz, or "lucky" by jason mraz/colbie caillat... it's all about making the whole day about you guys. if you guys have a favorite song or 2 you can use them, or acoustic versions! since i'm a fan of jason mraz (obv lol) i'm going to walk down the aisle to an acoustic version of "i won't give up" by jason mraz, it's also the song that FI's coworker learned in a day and played at the proposal Smiley smile

I'm doing "Fireflies" by Owl City for the Recessional. Don't know if it makes sense, but I love that song and it's definitely fun!

We are also doing I'm a Believer by Smashmouth. Smiley smile

I definitely vote for a light, fun, upbeat song to leave to. Every wedding I've been to it's just so much more fun that way! Last June when my BM got married they used "Walking on sunshine" It was so sweet.

I'm walking down the Aisle to an instrumental version of Beauty and the Beast by Jim Brickman and our recessional is going to be A Whole New World Instrumental from Disney's Fairytale Weddings CD. So we're totally skipping the traditional and going for what we love.

For our recessional we're doing "When the Day Met the Night" by Panic! at the Disco. It's a really cute song and one of his favorites. All of our decisions for music so far have been very non-traditional.

You all have some great picks! My FH wants to use the choirs from Nikki Minaj's "moment for life". I thought "The good Life" by Kanye West. We thought either one of those were fun.

Darla- as a DJ I hardly ever have brides & grooms that want the traditional songs anymore. Unless you've always dreamed of exiting to the Bridal March, then go for what makes you happy! If you go with Kanye or Minaj, every time someone who was at your wedding hears that song (including you two) it will bring them back to that moment in time. Make it yours! Hey, and a good DJ should be able to mix both of your suggestions into one recessional song... Have fun and congrats!

I haven't done a wedding that did 'traditional' recessional music for over a year!

Recent weddings I did used, at THEIR choice :

    Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith

Walk It Out - DJ Unk (yeah, really, ha!)

    White Wedding - Billy Idol

Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

Yeah, I've had some fun couples!
