We are having our wedding at my dads beautiful new home and im wondering if I should do the cermony inside or outside with the reception dinner outside and party inside and outside... how do I do this? What should I do in general? I don't know where to to have what. Ps it will be in October next year

I prefer outdoor events. It really depends on what the weather is like where you live as well. I think with everything going on it would be best to shoot for a fully outdoor wedding and you could rent a tent and heaters if it is cold on October where you live.

Is there room indoors to fit everyone with the social distancing? If not, have the ceremony outdoors. It's very common to have both events in the same space. Generally guests will start milling about if there is a cocktail hour. Otherwise head to their assigned tables like any other reception.

1st check the farmers almanac to get an idea what the weather will be
If there is plenty of space, I’d do it outside - the whole thing.

Yeah go with weather first but of course best to do all outside. Maybe food inside and reception (dancing, games, seating, etc...) outdoors. Make sure no bugs get to the food.

I would say with the pandemic if there’s room outside I would definitely use the outside space. My wedding is also in October (Cali) and I’m doing everything outside. My caterers will be set up inside and bring plates outside to everyone when dinner is ready.

I think it would depend on quite a few factors, including the number of people attending and the Covid situation next year. If there’s a large or rowdy crowd, would they potentially cause damage if inside (drink or food spills, mud tracked through carpeting, etc)?

I prefer fully outdoor weddings, especially in October. You could always rent a tent if you wanted some sort of coverage.

It just depends on number of guests and weather conditions.
Here in Texas, it’s still warm even in October. So we prefer a mix setting: ceremony outdoors, A/C dinner reception with the option of mingling outdoors.
