My fiance and I are introverts and we've never been big dancers but i've read everywhere that a lot of weddings are awkward if theres no dance floor but we are having a destination wedding so I don't want everybody to travel for just a reception. When i've gone out with his family in the past they've literally tried to drag me on the dance floor and it's just not my thing and I really don't want to feel forced on my wedding day. I'm not sure what to do, has anybody else been in this spot or have any advice?

    You can have a perfectly nice reception without a dance floor. Think of it like a big cocktail or dinner party, you don't usually dance at those, right?

    If you do decide to have a dance floor, then you'll have to practice a polite "no", but I get that some people can be insistent. It should be your choice and that does suck.

    We didn't have a dance floor (or a dance "vibe"; though we did do the spotlight dances) - people had a good time. It tends to be lower key without the dancing. People eat, converse, mingle, etc.

    My favorite weddings as a guest were smallish (40-50 guests), dinner & drinks only, no dancing. People had fun socializing and enjoying fabulous food! We ended up doing something similar. Dancing isn’t required.

    Many weddings have chatting only. Especially if there is no dj.
