Reception tips

Soon, on June 21, 2019 at 12:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Hi friends, my wedding list consist of 80 guests. My ceremony is at 10:30am followed by Reception/lunch at 12pm. I would like to have a morning buffet (croissants/muffins) with light drinks like mimosas. Now for lunch I want to do buffet style mixed with indian food and American food. My open bar will consist of wine/beer/wine coolers. I'm trying to figure out how much food & booze do I really need?

That's hard. I find that usually all the estimates online are an overestimate because better over than under! I'm sure if you order party trays they'll tell you how many servings each are.

Honestly I don’t think you need a lot of drinks because it’s an early wedding. But you need to know your audience my group of friends love brunch so I would be going heavy on mimosas and lighter on beer . As for the food think 1.5 per item as most people will at least try everything.

    Hi there Soon!

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

This all sounds very yummy Smiley smile

Have you hired a caterer to provide the food? If so, they should be able to help you estimate how much food you need for your guests.

Will the food be served buffet style?

Yes the food will be served buffet style. I'm looking for a local indian restaurant. My venue only provides tables & chairs. Everything else is basically diy.

What I've found online is that they suggest having 1.5 servings available per guest. However, I'd gauge that based on whatever you're having. You obviously don't want a huge plethora of breakfast leftover, when you're also going to be serving lunch. I'd go for a lighter breakfast buffet.
