Reception Timeline

Elizabeth, on April 12, 2021 at 10:03 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

I am trying to think of the "big moments" for the reception and am stumped. I know we will have a grand entrance, first dance, and an anniversary dance. We won't be having a father daughter/mother son dance, bouquet toss, or cake cutting. What are some other fun things we could use to fill the time?

You could have time set aside for speeches/toasts, or you could do the shoe game, or a trivia game, or even just open up the dance floor a little early!

Other than speeches, I'm not really sure you'd need anything to fill the time. I love dancing when I go to a wedding so I wouldn't just throw extra things in just because unless your guests aren't the type that like to dance.

People love dancing and mingling. No need to add filler activities.

Agree with this. Guests prefer to dance and mingle rather than listen to toasts/speeches, play games, etc.

Since you are skipping the cake cutting, will guests know when dessert is available?

How do you feel about speeches? If you are down to do these just make sure that each person is given a time so they know not to talk too long lol. You can also do like fun games with the guests or even between bride and groom. There's one where the bride and groom are holding their shoes. One for the groom and one for the bride (each). Then someone (like an MC, DJ, or whomever) can talk over the mic and ask "Who is most likely to...". And then that's when bride and groom can raise one of the shoes on who is most likely to "be late to a party", or "say sorry first", etc. Smiley smile
