Reception Timeline without a ceremony

Elizabeth, on August 18, 2017 at 2:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm having issues trying to figure out my timeline for our reception. We are going to Ireland for our wedding with only our parents. Then we are having a reception here for everyone to party when we get back. I still want to have all of the normal highlights, like the entrance and the dances. So how do I do that without everyone seeing us first? We'll take pics outside of the venue, but they're having a "cocktail hour" at first. I don't want to waste any party time. Do we come in halfway through the cocktail hour to be introduced and start the dances? Or make our rounds and do dances after dinner? I'm so confused.

The parents can greet guests as they arrive. Perhaps you can be on the opposite side of the building? After 15 minutes, the DJ can announce the two of you, you can do your first dance, parent dances, toasts, dinner, dancing.

Say your reception starts at 8 PM. Cocktail hour would start at 7 PM. People would show up within that hour just like at a regular reception. Do your grand entrance at 8 PM, at the beginning of the reception.

And take your pictures earlier in the day at the venue and then find somewhere else (like a park) to take pictures at during cocktail hour
