Reception Timeline, Buffet and Short Photography

Kristen, on July 11, 2017 at 5:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

So, my wedding is way on a budget, so I was only able to get 4 hours of professional photography. I need some help planning my reception timeline to get all the important stuff photographed. I am having a friend who plays around with photography cover getting ready and after the photographer leaves.

I am having a fairly short ceremony with a cocktail hour in between to do posed photos.

My meal is buffet style. So I want to try to cover first dance/parents dance, toasts, and cake. I do not think we will be having a bouquet toss, etc. I don't want to make everyone wait to eat while we crank out everything. Suggestions please!

I am having some food during cocktail hr so people arent starving and doing formal photos during cocktail hr, doing bouquet toss when i enter during cocktail hr, after people are seated for reception am doing first dance, daddy daughter dance and cutting the cake. Also me and FH are doing the only toast right before releasing the tables to the buffet. All total should only be 15-20 minutes from when they sit down to going to buffet. I am also including that timeline in my programs so they know not to skip cocktail hr food if they are hungry. Due to budget i only have photographer for 2 hrs so im getting it all done before dinner. Obviously this might not work if you have more spot light dances and lots of toasts but you can do toasts while eating if you want pics from those

We also only have our photog for 4 hours. She'll be arriving at the venue at 2, doing shots of my dress and me getting into it, first look, and bridal party photos. The ceremony will be 430-5, family photos after. We plan to join cocktail hour if we can. Then reception begins at 6 with our introduction and first dance, then spotlight dances and that should about do it. She sent me a timeline, I'll take a photo of it when I get home!

Here you go! We opted for less coverage partially for budget reasons but also because I didn't care to have photos of the reception (we will have a photobooth) or us getting ready.

Thanks! Would you mind sending one of the traditional option? I'm not doing any photos beforehand so I'd be interested to see a timeline that included dinner
