Reception tables

Amber, on October 6, 2017 at 7:16 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 34

I'm thinking of renting picnic tables for the reception. I want to have a laid back feel, we're having a small wedding, no more than 40 friends and family. Anyone else rent picnic tables or something like it? Opinions?

As someone with back problems, I shutter when I hear the word "bench." It won't be very comfortable for your guests, so I'd really recommend getting chairs with backs.

We do have 2 large tables with chairs. Maybe mix it up?

Not certain how mixing it would work? Some people will still be uncomfortable.

How about the table with chairs. Benches are hard in dresses and you can't just get up unless you are on the end. Love the vibe of it. But chairs would probably be better for your guests.

We also are not having a formal dinner. It's clam bake style at my family's Cape house. So idk how much sitting down will happen.

I would be so uncomfortable on a bench. Even if your not having a formal dinner make sure people are comfortable

I honestly think the table and chairs would work better. You don't have to have fancy chairs or anything, just something with a back. I understand wanting a casual feel, but chairs are so much more comfortable for so many people.

I have 6 foot picnic tables available with separate benches for outdoor use, but also have matching chairs that can be substituted for the benches available so you can mix and match. Older people or people with health/back issues can not always sit on benches. Indoors I have 8 foot banquet tables. So renting some chairs along with benches maybe a better option.

No need to be rude. I'm not trying to get anyone to ohh and ahh over the tables. I'm actually thinking of changing it up now.

We're planning on borrowing a couple picnic tables instead of renting them. We have a covered area that will have regular tables and the picnic tables will be right next to that in a shady area. We're around most of our guests pretty often and I know most of them won't care one way or another.

No one is being rude. You asked for opinions and got them.

I have some ideas but since you're in a snit, forget it.

    Amber it wasn't rude.

It's rude to make your guests stand to eat, however.

Yes that would be. But I'm unsure where I am making anyone stand. I'll have tables and chairs, maybe tables and benches too, plus the couches and chairs in the house.

You said before you didn't think many would be sitting, that they would standing as it's a laid back feel in your parents' backyard. Everyone gets a seat and everyone gets a seat that makes them comfortable, with a back and all.

The place I booked as tables with beaches. I love them so yeah I'm using them and doing only a little decorating to them.

I say do what you want it's your day the guest are there to help celebrate. And I have family that have a hard time getting up but I know they will seat where they know they can get up

I have a feeling Amber woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and wants to take it out on WW.

Personally I rarely sit down at weddings, other than to eat. That's all I was saying. I'm not having a 4 course meal here or anything.
