Reception Snacks

Marion, on August 8, 2017 at 6:28 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

So I hadn't thought about later reception snacks until I read the post about Donut Holes. Now I really want to do them! My only thing is, I'm worried about serving a sweet snack like that on top of alcohol (we're doing wine and beer and probably 1 or 2 signature drinks). I'm looking for ideas on another snack to have that will go better with alcohol. I looked at Pinterest and the only thing I really saw that made sense were smores (again, sweet and I kinda feel like everyone does that. No hate, I just don't want to go that route) and popcorn bar. I like the idea but FH hates popcorn and doesn't want it. All the other things I saw on Pinterest look complicated and more than a simple yummy snack. Anyone have any ideas that meet those restrictions (not sweet, ok with alcohol, not popcorn or smores).

Well what's your dinner? I feel like any snack like that will be fine as long as they eat a filling dinner.

We're doing Italian (my favorite!). I would like to hope so @Faith but I worry and I like the idea of 2 options.

I've heard of people doing fast food (Shake Shack and In N Out) or pizza.

We are doing chicken Parmesan sliders and waffle wedges with maple syrup as our late night snacks. One sweet, one savory.

FH would go crazy for pizza but I kinda want something simple. :/ Blah, this is hard, lol.

Any nut allergies? If not, a trail mix bar would be fun and easy and incorporate that salty/sweet taste. It could have minipretzels, different types of nuts, m&ms, chocolate chips, rice squares and basically whatever else you want. Have cute bags for guests to make them in?

I really wanted to do a grilled cheese food truck for a late night snack, but FH wasn't about it.

I guess I see pizza as a meal food? I was more just thinking like a simple yummy snack. Popcorn would have been perfect if FH liked it.

I went to a wedding that had popcorn stations, all different types of popcorn. And then another one that had a buffet of chicken fingers, French fries, mini sliders, etc

@Kallie bummer! I think that would be yummy but I think I would need my caterer to keep it all warm and I feel like that would be more pricey. If I have extra budget I think I will look into warm snacks with the caterer but I'm hoping for something not hot just in case there's no extra budget.

If you like mexican ...You can rent a nacho machine just like a popcorn machine...the thing where it warms the cheese at the top and the chips inside, you could put out salsas and guacamole sour cream etc and have those little paper baskets to serve them in. I was going to do that but we will have a taco bar for a dinner station so too redundant.

We had mini pulled pork sliders, sliders and french fries. People were hungry after dancing for 2 hours.

Does your venue and/or caterer have any options? Our venue has a variety of late night snack options of things like, mini deep dish pizzas, mini sliders, mini italian beefs, french fry cones, quesadillas or tacos, mini milkshakes, donuts, etc. FH and I are leaning towards doing one savory and one sweet (chocolate dipped cheesecake pops).

We're doing rum soaked flaming donuts. Why pick between alcohol or sweets when you can have them both?
