Reception seating/Boosters and High chairs?

mellissamarie, on July 20, 2010 at 4:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Our venue provides us with 4 booster seats and 4 high chairs (and I'm doing assigned seating). I already have my ring bearer who needs a high chair, however we have 19 other small children attending the reception who may need these also. I'm unsure of whether or not my FMIL and parents will want to expand the budget to rent more of these from a new company- what do you think is the best approach?

Should I just provide one for my ring bearer? Or should I put the other ones out to the side so if someone needs it they can take it...or should we ask all the parents if they need them and try to find enough to rent? I didnt even give this any thought, but I dont have any kids, so I didnt realize how this could be important. Most of the kids are on my side of the family, and I know my parents are exhausted cash wise for the wedding. I still can ask FMIL, but since they are not her relatives I dont think she'd be very willing...and we cant afford it ourselves at this point...

A coworker just told me that parents usually bring these things on thier own...is that true? Should I not be concerned about this?

I'd say first come first serve for this. I would think that most people wouldn't expect them to be provided and bring the booster seats or high chairs if they needed them.

@Nate- it's not a catering hall- it's a dance hall, the caterer is a different company that is brought in.

I have never been to a wedding where they have been provided. As a parent I would not expect them to be provided nor would I bring one. I would just hold my child on my lap and improvise. I would not worry about providing for all kids. That could really make space and issue as well as the added expense.

I can't recall ever having been to a wedding with high chairs/booster seats. I would say have what is available on hand for first come first serve, but I doubt that parents will be expecting these to be provided. I wouldn't worry about spending extra money that you don't have.

As a parent I would assume there is nothing provided. We have a portable booster that we take with us, which cost us $20 at Target. You could let these parents know that nothing will be provided so they can be sure to grab something from home. Here's what we have, which has been a life saver! http://www.target.com/Learning-Curve-On-The-Go-Booster-Seat/dp/B00005N9X5/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton

It is nice of you (and everyone who worries about that) to consider having that available for parents, but it is a wedding and I assume parents will not expect to have something like that provided. If you are provided a certain number, just leave them there and whoever needs it can use it.

    .

I am sure everyone will understand.

What if I am not sure if an online minister is legitimate? There is advice on wedding wire in which certain entities do not have the credentials to advise/ etc.. Very concerned
