Reception no air conditioning in June

Lisa, on October 4, 2019 at 8:00 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
I’m really stressing out over finding the perfect place! I found a venue last night and said yes we will do it here. But I decided on frustration. There are two venues that I love but there isn’t air in the reception area. Ones in a tent, the other is in a fancy barn. Lots of fans though. I live in Illinois and it gets pretty humid. I’m just wondering if I should just say forget it and just stick with a venue with air! I don’t want my guest uncomfortable.

We have extended family in IL and have been there plenty of times in the summer. Personally, I'd prioritize AC over most anything else.

I would also prioritize AC over a lot. The venue can be beautiful, the food can be amazing, and the music can be great, but if the guests are uncomfortable because of temperature, they won't have a good time and will likely leave early.

If you really want one of the venues without AC, I would choose a different time of year. Otherwise, definitely get a venue with AC!

I don't think you can skip out on AC. Mix summer heat with Illinois humidity, people in fancy clothing and dancing and that sounds miserable!

We got married in July in PA on one of the hottest days of the year. Our venue had air conditioning and people still thought it was too hot, but they had the air conditioning on has high as it could go. Based on that, I would definitely recommend finding a place that has air conditioning otherwise guests aren't going to be comfortable.

I'm from St. Louis, but live in Ohio now. June is such an unpredictable month weather wise and the humidity can be unbearable at times. We are getting married June 6, 2020 and ac was important to me because I wanted to be comfortable plus I wanted my guest to be comfortable as well.

I'd go with the venue with the air also.

Could you bring in portable ACs? If you can't, then a place that has AC. You don't want your guest complaining the entire time about how hot it is.

Definitely need air. I'm in Missouri, and know just how humid it can get in June. Our wedding was in July, outside, and everyone was miserable. You also have to think of your cake, will it melt in the heat? And keeping drinks cold. Not to mention, with fans blowing, it will make it hard to keep your decor from blowing around.

I used to live in Illinois and currently live in Indiana and I agree with PP's that AC should be a priority. In June it could be 100 degrees and in fancy clothes with dancing for an extended period of time it doesn't sound very pleasant.

Absolutely use the venue with AC, not even a question.

I'm from IL - I would definitely find something with air. Especially if you have older guests. and if people are dancing it could get a little sticky in there

There is several large fans she said and she said we could bring portable units.. but I don’t know if that would even keep all the guests cool. I just love this location for ceremony. But you have to have reception there also! I’m going to stick with the venue that has the air for reception. The place for the ceremony is just an open area I think with the right decorations I can make it look beautiful

I went to a wedding this summer on the hottest day of the year. Although the wedding was indoors, the old warehouse AC couldn’t keep up. The bridesmaids were sweating through their dresses. People didn’t eat. They didn’t dance. They left early. Being hot is miserable.

    id definitely prioritize the AC.

If you have elderly guests, they are definitely going to need the proper A/C for sure. Probably the biggest fear I had for my August wedding was the venue's A/C would be messed up but it worked fine.

Great decision! As a Virginia gal that deals with humidity all the time, AC must be prioritized!
