Reception Music

Ashley, on February 11, 2021 at 11:01 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3

My DJ has given me a form to fill out to write any songs that we would like to have play at our reception.

FH and I are drawing a blank on what to have the DJ play.

FH family is from Puerto Rico and a lot of them speak Spanish but my side of the family does not.

We would like to include both English and Spanish music but since I do not speak Spanish I am not super familiar with a lot of Spanish music other than Bad Bunny.

We plan on included a song request card on our RSVP so our friends and family can request any song they want to hear at the reception.

I would love to hear anyone's suggestions and what songs got your guests out on the dance floor at your wedding.

We just selected the major songs (reception entrance, 1st dance, etc.) because we also couldn't think of anything specific that we must play or that belongs on a do not play list. Our DJ made an announcement that they were taking requests during the wedding, and people requested songs throughout the night. Part of the appeal of having a dj instead of just a playlist is that they are good at reading the room and getting everyone on the dance floor. I would maybe inform the DJ that you want a mix of English and Spanish dance music so that they are prepared.

Ask the DJ for suggestions. Typically their forms are just to let them know if you have any specific preferences. They don't expect you to plan out the entire night of music. Make a note that you want him to play some Spanish music. His job is to play what appeals to the crowd.
