Reception music: Cocktail hour/first dance

We are letting our DJ choose the music for cocktail hour. For our first dance, we're still undecided (would love to get suggestions of songs that aren't frequently played, if anyone has any good ideas!).

For the first dance we had "My Valentine" by P. McCartney. And during the meal we had some M. Bouble and Jamie Cullum...

I secretly hired a violinist for our ceremony and he will be doing cocktail hour. I’m not sure if we should do our first dance with the violinist or have the DJ play something. We are still trying to figure out what song we want for the first dance. Probably an oldie but goodie kind of deal.

We have a band for the reception, but don't have either a DJ or a band for our ceremony/cocktail hour period. We planned on just using a spotify playlist, and I have been putting one together for us to use. I wanted chilled jazz and bossa nova style versions of modern songs, so I have things like 'watermelon sugar', 'she's the one' on it.

Then, our first dance is "Your Song" by Elton John.
