Reception hours

Ours is roughly 3.5 hours

Here's our timeline:

4:00 - Ceremony

4:30-5:30 - Cocktail Hour

5:30-9:30 - Reception

I think 3-4 hours for a reception is pretty standard!

We actually just shortened our reception to 3.5 hours, cocktail hour 5:30-6:30, reception 6:30-10, I just realized we would be so dead tired if it lasted until 11. I think that’s plenty of time for dinner and dances, personally.

This sounds like plenty of time for a reception. And, if you want to keep the party going, you could host an after party also.

View Quoted Comment If you feel you really need that extra hour, you could inquire with your venue about extending the time. Typically venues will allow you to extend the reception time for an additional fee

It was perfect! We didn't want to do an after party & I'm so glad we didn't. By the end of the evening, all we wanted was to be alone.
