Reception Games/traditions?

Alyssa, on January 16, 2021 at 8:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hi friends!

I’m thinking of fun wedding games or traditions for the Bride & Groom for my July wedding. We are ditching the garter & and bouquet toss. I do like the shoe/question game, though not sure if that is something that we will do or not. I’m looking for some fun suggestions for a quick game or activity for my guests during the reception. Have you been to any weddings where the bride and groom did something unique? Or something you as a guest were able to participate in? Any ideas are appreciated! Smiley smile

You can play the shoe game, just don't make it too long

For our wedding, we did a trivia game rather than The Shoe game. We had a questionnaire at each seat that guests filled in with questions about my husband and I. Some examples were our favorite colors, favorite foods, where we met, how long we were together, etc. For the favorite ones, they had to get at least one right. Then before dancing started guests came onto the dance floor and the DJ read the question. If they got it wrong they went back to their seats. The last 10 got prizes. We had leftover mason jars from my mother-in-law's birthday party that we put mini things in like candy, alcohol, etc. and gave out them as the prizes. It was fun to see how well our guests knew us. I would say it took about 10-15 minutes.

It's not really a game suggestion, but my fiance and I are going to have a couples dance. All married couples get on the dance floor and the DJ starts with the lowest number of years and works their way to the most years. When a couples number of years they have been together is called, they take a seat. This goes on until the couple who has been together the longest is the only on the dance floor. I included a link with better directions on The Knot, but you don't necessarily have to do it instead of the bouquet toss.
