Reception Food

Adriana, on August 31, 2020 at 6:50 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
So we are having Chick-fil-A at our reception (I know that’s not classy but that’s both our favorite so shhh) and the closest location that caters is about 2 hours from our venue. I am going to order the food to be picked up the day of, but I was wondering what time I should schedule the pickup. Our ceremony starts at 5pm. What do y’all think?

You want food to be on site well ahead of the first guests arriving (usually 30 minutes before invitation time). I’d say have it there by 3pm, so pick it up at 1pm.

I would say by 12 if it’s 2 hours away from the venue.

It's delicious so if someone doesn't like it, that's on them.

Have them arrive 30 minutes (whoever is picking them up wouldn't get to witness the ceremony if that isn't a concern..so arrive roughly 2 hrs before at 3pm so than can drive back on time and have a way to keep them warm..foil insulated grocery totes are great) before you plan to eat. Make sure that a team is available to set them out so gues can grab them or plate them, depending on the layout you choose.

Is there a way to heat the food back up if it gets too cold? Chick fil a is delicious, but cold Chick fil a not so much....

In addition to the zippered foil insulated totes (you can buy online or any grocery store) or a DIY hack (using a large cardboard box lined with foil sunshades) have chafing dishes with lit burners underneath to keep them warm depending on if you are doing buffet or having someone plate them.

This sounds yummy, but two hours away? Will guests be able to have their food reheated?

    I’ve done
chick fil a catering before and picked up the day before (side note - chick fil nuggets ar a Super Bowl party are a huge hit, everyone wants chick fil a on Sunday). They give you instructions to reheat. If you have a way to reheat then I’d recommend picking up the day before so you have one less thing to worry about!

Thanks everyone! We will be able to store and reheat the food, and it will all be in chaffing dishes when it’s time to serve. They even have an option to get it all frozen.

Can you hire someone who would not otherwise be attending to pick them up? That way you keep them fresh as possible the day of. Most people don't want day old fast food no matter what it is.

I would pick it up as close to the eating time as possible.

That’s cute! Doesn’t chick-fil-a deliver for catering events? I’d have them deliver the food right when it’s time to eat, versus picking it up and having the food wait around getting cold and soggy (you know how the chicken sandwich bag starts to sweat after a while). Cold food isn’t a good idea... especially their fries.

They will deliver to some locations but unfortunately they won’t deliver that far 😞 I think I’m going to order all the food cold so we can heat it right before it is served and it will be fresh.

😂 we got judged for it a little bit but who cares, Chick-fil-A is five stars as far as I’m concerned. It was a much better price too...
