Reception Exit

Ally, on January 25, 2020 at 10:24 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
I’m finally at a point where I have most of my details planned but I cannot figure out what to do about the reception exit. We are having a small, outdoor wedding at a state park. Our reception starts at 1:30 and will probably run until about 3:30, we are driving to our honeymoon location and need to be there by a certain time so we are having a short reception. Our guest list is almost all family and most of them are older so we will have a playlist playing in the background on speakers but no dancing and no dj. I feel like it’s awkward to just leave with no announcement, but I also feel like it’s awkward to try to have someone corral guests into an exit line and get them situated with props and such while we just stand there and wait to leave. We could just stay until it’s over but we do need to leave at around 3:30 to get to our honeymoon location on time and I don’t want to tell people they have to leave. Please help! I can’t decide what to do

I think blowing bubbles is cute for a day time wedding. No mess and you can see them, plus some venues only allow certain items. Real rose petals could work too. My exit was at night so we did the sparklers.

I would totally have someone coral the guests for a send off; you deserve a goodbye/exit moment!

So, were doing something a little different than a traditional wedding... instead of having a first danxe, we're going to do a last dance where our band will direct everyone outside and our venue people will give our guests all sparklers. They'll be getting ready and lighted while we do our last dance. I want to be able to have our photographer take pics of us dancing with the background showing the aftermath of the wedding, but no people in sight. When we come out, all of the sparklers, that we'll walk through, will be lit and we'll leave in a limo.

Thanks! My fiance and I decided to do it this way because he doesn't want everyone staring at us while we dance and it's a little too late to start taking dance lessons and do a choreographed dance... plus I really wanted a picture with the aftermath to show how it was a fun party!
