Reception entrance when I'm not changing my name...

SnowyBride, on March 13, 2018 at 10:57 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17

I'm keeping my last name, but we do want to do an entrance into our reception. Every wedding I've gone to has been some version of "Introducing the new Mr. & Mrs. same last name". Everything I come up with sounds really wordy. Like, "Please welcome for the first time as husband and wife Husband His Name Wife Her Name" Is there a "smoother" option?

... or am I completely overthinking this one. Wedding is in less than two weeks, so that's very possible. Haha.

We just did first names. “The newlyweds B and S and their daughter A”. My daughter was 3 at the time and wanted to be introduced with us.

I went to a wedding recently where they just announced first names. "please stand and welcome D and A!"

Perfect. First names seem way easier! Thank you!

I didn't change my last name either, and there are a few phrases you could use:

"Please welcome for the first time as husband/wife and husband/wife, Name and Name!"

"Please welcome the happy couple, Name and Name!"

"Introducing the newlyweds, Name and Name!"

something simple like "Please join in welcoming Name and Name!"

Your DJ/emcee might also have a few versions of language they usually use in this case

I'm not changing my name, either. But I also want to make sure that anyone who hasn't heard "through the grapevine" that I am keeping my name knows that when we are introduced.

We are simply doing "Welcome Mr. XXX and Mrs. ABC." This way guests hear me formally introduced as Mrs. Maiden Name. Not that I'm going to flip out if they call me Mrs. Husband's Name or anything. I'll just gently correct them.

He's planning to take mine, but I don't think we are going to make a big deal out of it. I think we may just be introduced as our first names.

You can just do first names- "The newlyweds, SnowyBride & SnowyGroom!"

You could also have them welcome, "The newlyweds! Name & Name!"

Jennifer, That's what I was thinking... We were invited to a wedding recently and on the envelope they put "Mr. & Mrs. his name" because they know we're getting married soon. The thought is so sweet, and I certainly wasn't bothered they did that, but since I'm not changing my name and not everyone is aware, I kind of do want to include my maiden name.

I am a doctor, and keeping my maiden name because of that. I'm stuck between announcing as our first names only, or Mr. x and Dr. y, so people are aware I didn't change. Not sure what to do.

Yesterday my parents balked at us not being introduced as “Mr and Mrs Last Name.” I’m keeping my name but adding his last name, and I don’t necessarily mind being introduced that way, but it’s just weird how parents can cling to certain traditions (even though my dad is really happy I’m keeping my last name!)

Edit: they balked at the idea of it - we didn’t get married yesterday! Lol
