Reception Entertainment

Sam, on April 14, 2021 at 7:17 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Hello everyone!

So the ongoing dilemma with my wedding planning is whether or not to rent a dance floor.
We're having our reception in a historical home that has the capacity to seat about 60 people. There's not much space in the house for dancing, but my DJ and I agreed it would be tough to get people dancing if it means walking out of the building.I want dancing, but I know many people on our list are pretty reserved, so I'm nervous about dropping a few hundred dollars on a dance floor and tent if only 10 people are comfortable with busting a move. What are some other entertainment ideas you've had or are considering?

If people don't dance (you can dance on concrete in a pinch to save money) then they mingle.

People who want to dance will find a way to (I dance to grocery store music lol). We aren’t having a dance floor, and my BIL is just putting on a playlist for us. We’re going to have a lot of games set up to play, like ring toss and corn hole. People will absolutely mingle and chat.
Someone I went to school with seemed to have a magician at their wedding lol
If it’s at a historic home, could a docent be in hand to share facts about art or artifacts in the room?

There is no where inside of the house for people to dance?

I think people that want to dance will dance, as long as your DJ is playing the right music. I would not rent a dance floor or put it outside.

You only need to rent a dance floor if the dancing will be outside to help with the uneven ground. I probably wouldn't go outside to dance if it's an out of the way thing. I'm a 50/50 will I dance or not person, if I see and feel the energy from the dance floor then I'll go out and bust-a-move, if theres no one or very few people with no energy I won't be out there. If it's out of the way then I won't feel that energy to want to go.

Hi Sam! I've been to a wedding like this where the dance floor was outside in a separate tented area. It was really fun!

The DJ opened the dance floor after dinner, and the people who wanted to dance went for it and others also mingled in the dinner room! You could also save your first dance to open the dance floor to get all your guests out there, then they'll all be ready to jump in and join you.
