Reception Dress

Emly, on December 11, 2019 at 12:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I did it! I decided I'm too indecisive and I NEED to have a reception dress LOL.

So I have my dress and I am in love with it but still find myself second guessing because my dress is a beautiful tulle sweatheart a-line that is so airy and beautiful but i also want a fitted and a bit sexy lace dress. There has been this dress on Lulus that I have loved from the get go and cant stop thinking about but didn't go for it because its just not super bridal to me. I was having major FOMO about it so i bit the bullet and just had to get it, it was $78 so I couldn't pass that up right!? I decided that I will use this as my reception dress because it has straps and just seems a bit more comfy than my ceremony dress.

My question to those of you that have/had a reception dress, when did you change into it?? Did you wait until after the first dance or did you change into it before you entered the reception space? We are not doing a first look so all of our pictures will be after the ceremony but I also only have my photographer for 6 hours so she will most likely leave after the dances are done and I would like a few pics in my reception dress too. I could potentially ask her to stay for like a half hour to snap some shots if I change after the dance but I worry that I will be too busy with guests by that point.

Most people change into their reception dress before being announced as the newlyweds at the reception. So you end up getting ‘entrance pics’ in both dresses.

I am changing into my reception dress during cocktail hour. We are doing a first look to capture a lot of the wedding look first so we have time during cocktail hour to change and take reception pictures as well.

    Hey Emly!

Congratulations on getting your second dress! I can tell just how excited you are about it!

You can change into your reception dress whenever you want, so you should think about your photos from your day and how you want to look.

You will have all of your formal photos and ceremony photos in your ceremony dress so you could change into your reception dress during cocktail hour before you make your entrance. How do you feel about having reception entrance photos and your first dance photos in your reception dress?
