Reception Dress

Shanice, on February 17, 2020 at 4:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I’m currently stress out because I had my eyes set on this beautiful custom dress. The designer said that it is 3,500 for just the design alone, not including fabric, and I wouldn’t mind, if I had a wedding dress but I don't and I don't want my reception dress to be better than my wedding gown. How much are you willing to spend on a reception dress? Should you even have a second dress at all?

I'm confused, do you already have a ceremony dress or not? If you don't, why can't this be for both? I only had 1 dress because I wasn't about to drop a bunch of money to wear a dress for 20 minutes and then another for only a few hours.

I didn’t do a reception dress but I Liked the idea of it because a second dress is easier to move around in

The decision on having a second dress is entirely up to you, there's no right or wrong answer. For me, I wanted to spend as much time as possible in my wedding dress considering I only get to wear it once and I paid more for it than I have any other article of clothing I own lol. Your dress budget is also entirely dependent on your situation personally and how much your overall budget is. We're on a 10k budget, I didn't want to spend more than 1k on my dress, and ended up getting my dress for $350. So to me, I would never spend 3.5k on a dress. But everyone is different! Only you can determine what is or isn't in your budget Smiley smile

I dont have a wedding dress as of yet, but found a reception dress. The designer decrease the price to 1,800 for the design but did not include fabric so the pricing will still go up unfortunately

I’m having three options. Ceremony, reception dress and a jumpsuit. 5.2k 2.5k and 1.3k. How about ask her to design your ceremony gown too. You also be able to find a ceremony gown that’s cheaper than your reception gown but doesn’t necessarily look better. Just different.

Are you set on 2 dresses? Can you wear this dress for both the ceremony and reception?

Maybe you can search for the fabric yourself and find a good deal

You could also get a dress with a detachable skirt so you can have a two in one dress.

I spent so much on my wedding dress already that it wouldn’t be worth it to just wear it for a couple of hours. I had a cotillion and wore a beautiful ball gown, wore it for 5 hours and the night goes by so fast. I didn’t want to take it off .

    Hi Shanice,
I promised myself that I would get a second dress if I spent under $2000 for my wedding dress, I did, I ❤️ my Stella York, but it's so much easier to dance and get around the reception in another dress. My bridesmaids will be wearing this dress in lilac, and I will wear the same in lavender as my second dress!Reception Dress 1

How much you’re willing to spend depends totally on you. I have 4 wedding outfits but spent the most on white bridal gown.

How many total bridal outfits will you have? Rank them 1, 2, 3, etc in order of importance to you. Allocate your attire budget accordingly. If you’ve already chosen wedding gown, how much isn’t leftover in your attire budget for your dancing gown? Is that the only outfit let to budget for? If so and you have 3500 or more left in attire budget, go for it!

I'm wearing 2 dresses but my reception is a completely separate day than my ceremony. My reception dress was $800, and my wedding dress was $1400.
