I need help 😩 I think I want to do a reception dress, but I can’t decide because there’s so much to think about it.

Any brides have opinions?? ☺️

I don't see the point of having two dresses, especially with how expensive dresses are to begin with. I'm wearing the same dress for the ceremony and reception. I LOVE my dress and wearing it just for the ceremony isn't enough time for me.

I am planning to change dresses for my reception! I absolutely adore my dress, but it will be inconvenient to dance in or to bar hop after the reception. I want to be carefree and enjoy every aspect of my wedding, which means I have to be comfortable and able to easily participate in everything! I don’t want to waste my evening lugging around a train and having people stepping all over my dress. And I personally do NOT like the look of bustles, so there’s no way I’m paying to have someone take away from the beauty of my dress! Do you think your ceremony dress is going to be uncomfortable/inconvenient for reception activities? Or are you just wanting a dramatic wardrobe change?

Honestly, I think I just like two completely different styles. I think I’ll like lace and tulle for the ceremony and then clean and sleek (able to dance like you said) for the reception!

I completely understand – I have 2 sides/styles also! If a second dress is in your budget, I say go for it! Why stifle your style/vision? If there is any day you can be over-the-top or “extra”, this is it!

I personally love the idea of a reception dress because wedding gowns can be so hard to move around in, some are so heavy!

but i didn't get one just because i also feel like we are already in our wedding gowns so little to begin with and it's the only chance to wear it.

so i think what it boils down to is how heavy your wedding dress is like if it's a giant ball gown or big train then i'd get another reception dress [if you have the budget for it]

I have two dresses for our wedding, and I'm really glad that I decided on that! (just want to add that the total for both dresses kept me under budget, which is why I was fine with getting two)

I tried on dresses and fell in love with two that are essentially the same, but different silhouettes. The ceremony dress is full with a long train, and the reception dress is more fitted. I've worked really hard to get where my body currently is physically and mentally, and wanted a dress that would show off my hard work. Plus, no one has seen me in a very form fitting dress, so it's kind of my celebration dress for losing weight and gaining confidence lol. The reception dress also has the long train, but I plan on getting that either removed, or trimmed significantly so that I won't have to bustle it.

Personally, if you want to have 2 dresses and you can afford it, I say go for it!

I am obsessed with my dress and will wear it as long as I can! Maybe I'll wear it to breakfast the next morning.. JK! lol but we aren't having dancing or anything as its just a microwedding with a nice dinner. I say do whatever you want if its in budget!

I am getting a reception dress. Though I love my wedding dress its a huge ballgown. I don't really want to lug it around the dance floor or bar hopping after!

I wasn't going to do two dresses, but since actually ordering my dress I'm thinking of doing a second dress for half way through the reception.

I went with a bigger dress than I thought I would, and I'm thinking it may be difficult to dance in and enjoy myself in. I'm waiting till my fitting to see how the bustle is and then will decide if I want a lighter dress for the dancing portion

I had originally planned on just one dress, because it's the only time I'll ever get to wear something like that and I'd like to wear it for as long as possible. That said, I had sleeves added to my dress and then we had to postpone to summer. It's a big, heavy, mikado dress and I might just be far too hot in it, so I am considering buying a simple, not very expensive dress to change into, just in case I want to.

On the other hand, I've always been opposed to it since I don't want to take away from time with all of these people who have come to celebrate with us, and who we've paid and awful lot of money to get in one room/place. The basic fact is that it's not as long as you think, and everyone always talks about how the day flies by before you realise. I don't really want to spend even half an hour for the time we have trying to get out of a dress and into a new one, away from all our guests.

I’m thinking about getting a second dress too! Changing towards the end of the reception into something more sleek and comfy for the sparkler send off and for partying after the wedding! I’ve been looking online for dresses and struggling to find the perfect one though.

I just went with my SIL to buy a reception dress. She decided on a satin sexy ivory low back gown that is TO DIE FOR which is a complete 180 of the lace strapless ceremony dress she has. Both were within her budget, so hey, go her.

Me-I bought a gown 2 years ago and fell out of love with it, and then a new gown haunted me until I tracked it down and then it busted my budget (since I had to buy two). I love it SO much I think my husband will have to rip it off me Smiley winking I will have to find ways to wear it again-I could never find another gown I love more-but to each their own.
