Reception Dress yes or no?

Morgan, on August 10, 2019 at 2:41 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Wondering what people thing of doing 2 dresses? One for the ceremony and one for the reception.

My grandma made my moms dress and I thought it would be nice for my mom to make my dress and it could be like a tradition.
But making my full wedding dress stressed my mom out a bit so I was thinking she could just make a fun reception dress instead, and then we can still have the wedding dress shopping experience

What do you think?

I def think it's a good idea. Because if your reception dress is shorter or slimmer and easier to move around in it'd be nice ! I didn't do that for mine because I was lazy ahaha but j see the appeal of it

I think it’s up to your mom and if she wants to/is capable of making the dress. I wouldn’t request that from anyone and if she’s already expressed that the idea is stressful to her, I wouldn’t push the issue.

That's a great idea if that's what she wants to do! I think it would be really sweet to keep that tradition going one way or another. Something to remember and cherish always.

It sounds like a cute idea if she’s ok with it. I technically have one but I might just wear it to the afterparty. I love my dress.

Might she be interested in making a honeymoon dress instead? Takes a little more pressure off of her (and eventually you if you’re wanting to continue this as a tradition) but still remains sentimental and tied to the wedding celebration. These days you can find nice, inexpensive photography experiences through Airbnb if you’re going to a large our touristy location on your honeymoon, so you can even capture that dress in professional photos with your FH. 😊

Thats time away to get changed out of one and into the other and then you have to bag up the other and make sure its somewhere it wont get ruined or wrinkled etc ...idk to me its a waste of time and money for 2 dresses but if you have the time to change and safe place for other dress and the money for it its your choice but my opinion would be do 1 dress. Your day your choice Smiley smile

If your mom volunteers, I think it would be nice to wear that dress for your reception!

I'm not opposed to reception dresses, especially when you could use the extra movement! Me personally, I want to spend as much time as possible in my wedding dress since it's my one and only day lol Smiley smile
