Reception dress or stay in gown?

Crystal , on March 26, 2018 at 12:26 PM

Posted in Wedding Reception 40

I have heard a lot of women changing into another outfit for reception, and it might be a lot easier to dance and so forth But on the other hand all the money spent on the wedding gown, I feel like I should wear it the entire event seeing as I won't use again. Any thoughts on this?

I'm going to try to wear my dress for as long as possible but I will have a dress waiting in the wings. And if I don't wear that second dress that night I'll probably wear it on a fancy dinner date on our honeymoon or our 1st anniversary.

I'm not changing! I bought a beautiful dress and paid a pretty penny for the alterations and bustle so that I could dance and walk! I will be wearing it! I also purchased a DB preservation kit, which FH jokingly calls "A dress casket, because you wear it once and then put it in and seal it up." Smiley catface

I smashed my dress budget so therefore I will be wearing my dress all day and night. I did choose a dress that is not big and heavy. It is very comfortable and I can move freely in it but still be stunningly beautiful and sexy. I'm even wearing my dress for the after party.

My dress is big heavy and form fitting. I will not be taking it off. I'll likely never wear another dress like it, so I'm gonna wear that beautiful contraption until it gets properly taken off me Smiley smile but I'm an actress, I've worn much bulkier things for longer under got stage lights. I ain't scurred.

I love my dress but we are getting married in a park and my dress has a long train so I do end up getting another without a train.

I wanted to switch gowns but it ended up being too costly. I only really wanted a shorter dress because I wanted to be able to dance but it turned out my dress moved really well.

It depends on if you have the budget for it and if you want to do it.

I spent a bit on my dress, I'm staying in it all night.

    That's what a bustle's for! Smiley tongue

I plan on wearing mine all night. As others have said, you only get to wear it once, which I am so excited for! Plus I don’t want to have to hunt for another dress.

This is exactly why you should not get a reception dress! IMO, anyway. I didn't, and none of my friends or family did either. I wore a form-fitting dress and danced my ass off with no problems.

I will be wearing my wedding dress the entire night. Early in the wedding planning stages, I looked into getting a second dress too but quickly realized that i am spending quite a bit on my wedding dress to only wear it for like 2 hours or so. Plus, i came to the realization that we have other things i can spend the money on for the wedding instead of a 2nd dress that won't be worn that much longer either.

I am wearing my gown (poofy ball gown type - with extra poof) the entire night but I am changing shoes after I walk around and greet people.

I wore my dress the whole day and night (photos started at 2 pm, ceremony was at 6pm). There was no way I was changing out of my dress.

I briefly considered having a separate reception dress, but ultimately I wanted every penny of "dress" money to go toward The One Dress. My only regret is that I'm not still wearing it right this instant.

I did change shoes partway through the night, however, and that was absolutely a life-saver.

Im of the belief that it's the only day in your life you get to wear such an expensive dress so milk it as long as you can. I've never attended a wedding where the bride changed into a reception dress.
