Reception dress change?

Futuremrsm, on July 16, 2020 at 8:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Did anyone buy a second more "comfortable" dress to change into during the reception? From having all of my dress fittings I realized that when I'm full of food and will probably be slightly drunk, I'm not sure if I'd want to wear a giant ballgown. Plus, going home in it would be kind of annoying. Thoughts?

I originally planned on getting a second dress for my reception, but I decided to wear my wedding dress the whole night. I thought that it would be a waste of money to only wear it for an hour or so. But I also only have to go upstairs to our hotel room after the wedding. If it's in your budget, then go for it!

I didn't change out of my dress. I figured I didn't pay $2500just to wear it for 30 minutes.

I'm planning to wear my original dress all night, since it's the only time that I'll get to wear it. Though it's totally personal choice - if you'd be more comfortable changing into a second dress for the reception, go for it!

One thing I made sure of in choosing a dress was whether it was comfortable enough to Sit in as well! If I had gone with something more form fitting I would probably have a reception dress to change into.

I bought a short white dress on lulus as a backup in case I feel the need to change. My dress has long sleeves and is a bit fuller on the bottom so I figured I'd get a short one just in case I get too hot.

I purchased my dress in May 2019 for our October 2020 wedding. But it has since been postponed to October 2021. Only due to that, have I considered purchasing a second dress as a “postponement present” to myself. But nothing more than $500. I love my original dress and never planned to change out of it. But by the time of my wedding, I’ve definitely got my money’s worth out of it (even if it’s been hanging in the closet). So my plan would be to wear my original dress for: pre-pics with FH, the ceremony, post pics, the last half of cocktail hour (we plan to join in on it), our first dance, throughout dinner and as we walk around to each guest table and take a photo as they’re completing their meals. After that, I’ll change into the second dress, which would be right before open dancing and mingling for the rest of the night. So my original dress will still get lots of wear that day.

I forgot to clarify I my post that I meant a dress to wear like after some dancing eating and drinking in case I don't want my original on...not to change for the whole reception

I think if it’s in your budget then a second slimmer dress would be a good idea! It certainly would be easier to move around in

So I originally wanted to stay in my dress the entire time! But then I started to think about it and I wanted to have a black dress for the reception because it's on Halloween and a masquerade ball! So with everything going on, we are probably going to postpone but have a chapel wedding and I will wear my big poofy ball gown then when we do our vowel renewal next year I will wear my big ball gown again and then change into my black reception dress!! So you can always do a reception dress if you would like and then you get to surprise your guests with a neat gown!!

I didn't spend too much on my dress, but it has a lot of layers that would be too hot for the Florida sun, so i purchased a dress in a style that makes me feel sexy/confident! I only paid $30 for my reception dress and will accessorize it with the same belt as my wedding dress! Reception dress change? 1

I would compromise and get a pretty dress that's comfortable too. Because it's for a wedding most are not cheap to wear for 20 minutes maximum.
