Reception dress change??? Yes or no?!?

Mandy, on May 15, 2017 at 7:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 3 23

I love my dress it's stunning but I would like to change into a fun flirty high low reception dress. My fiancé doesn't think it's a good idea. "An additional not needed cost." I want to stay with tradition and classic bride theme but I really would like a second dress. I found the one too! Any opinions? Has anyone dress changed and regretted it?

Maybe have your dress altered or buy one with the option to have a take away skirt? That way you aren't technically buying two dresses and you can still wear the skirt if you decide against it

I agree with your fiance, you spend so much on a dress just to wear for what an hour at most and then change into another dress? It seems like that money could be placed to better use.

You could look into getting alterations done to your dress if you have already picked one out or plan to get one that gives you options like PP has said. Alterations can be far less expensive than getting a new dress.

I don't understand the whole "dress changing" thing - there's no need for an extra dress, because your FH is right - that stuff is EXPENSIVE. Save your money and skip the switch.

You will have other events in your life where you get to wear an awesome cocktail or evening dress, but you only get one day to wear a wedding dress. Enjoy your wedding dress for as long as you can!

I love my dress so much I couldn't see wearing it only for a little bit for the ceremony. I don't think wearing it the whole day is going to be enough for me. I'm not going to want to take it off!

I'm not going to change dresses because I want to spend as much time as possible in my wedding dress as I can. Also, I'm saving money wherever I can and think the money would be better spent elsewhere.

I'm changing into a second dress. Dress one was $2,700 under budget so why the heck not. I'll have it on longer than an hour. It always bugs me when people say that. HaHa! I'll be wearing it for pictures, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, first dances and cake cutting. I'll change around 8:00 (that's 6 hours) and have the second dress on until 11pm. Or later depending on afterparty. Dress 2 was $150 on JJ's House and I love it! If you want to do it go for it! I love both of my dresses equally.

As long as you are working within your budget, wear your dress for as long or as little as you'd like! I've seen a lot of brides change after dinner for the dancing portion or change for the getaway.

I wasn't going to but I saw a really cute inexpensive dress under $120 for the reception/send off. I couldn't resist. I plan to dance my ass off. Lol

Not only is it an added expense, it's added changing time. I didn't want to miss any part of my reception, but if I'd changed, it would've been at least 15-30 min away (think going to a room, getting out of first dress, potentially changing bra/shapewear, getting into second dress, then fixing hair/makeup since you just ribbed dresses over your head). The day goes SO fast. Do you want to spend it with your husband and guests, or spend extra time on wardrobe changes?

I'm not changing. I purchased my dress with the intention of staying in it all night.

Try rent the runway? They have some cute white dresses which you could use as a reception dress. I'm changing into a saree after dinner.

I want to change too lol...my fiancé said it’s a waste of money and that I should show off the dress I chose all night in every picture. I know I’m gonna be happy as ever and probably bubbly that’s why I wanted something with a shorter train and not too hot
