Reception Dress alterations

So this is the dress I wanted to wear for my reception:

I love this brand, I've had clothes by them before, and I find the style just beautiful. However, I'm concerned about the possibility of alterations. Since it has a pattern all over the fabric, I'm worried it wouldnt be possible to shorten it. I'm very short myself; the dress is listed as 53" long and my "hollow to floor" measurement is 51.5", so it'll definitely be too long by a couple of inches. Do you ladies think it would be too tall of an order (excuse the pun) to get it altered?

Also I'm torn between colors, either the gray or the navy blue (my colors are 'stormy blue' from Azazie and silver). So if you have any opinions there please share. Smiley laugh

I think you will stand out more in the gray!

I would show the picture to your seamstress to see if it’s possible to shorten it. It’s very pretty, but there’s a lot of detail which could make a significant hem difficult. And I would go with the gray because it’ll have more of a bridal look than the blue.

That's definitely my fear. There are other dresses with simpler patterns that would be easier to alter, but this one just spoke to me. (Also many of those others are also out of the gray and I don't have 45 days to wait for a fresh one to be made lol.)

Do you think that maybe wearing it with a crinoline might shorten it enough by taking up more material in poofiness?
