Reception decor

Gerica, on December 10, 2019 at 8:27 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14
Hello I am looking to see if anyone knows where I can buy some “ceiling swag” decor because I got estimated by a local decoration place that is charging quite a bit for it so if I can do it ourselves it would be much cheaper
Thank you!Reception decor 1

Try amazon! They have a lot of different options and great prices.

We rented uplights from RentMyWedding. Can’t remember if they also rent out stuff like this.

Just a note— some venues require you to contract a vendor or company for these kind of ceiling or wall installations even if it is just draping, so be sure to check with the venue before purchasing (:

I agree with pp regarding checking what your venue will allow. Depending on how high the ceiling is, they may require a scissors-lift or other specialized equipment and the venue may have very specific requirements regarding how they are attached. The fabric itself it also more costly than you might expect -- it takes a lot of yardage to do that kind of swagging. Daughter's venue only allowed swagging that they installed, and they charged about $1000 for it.

Definitely check with the venue. Our venue has two companies they use for lighting and draping because of the tall ceilings and safety risks.

That’s actually the type of decor that’s best for a professional company to do. You will stress yourself out trying to get the right fabric, correct amounts and lengths. Will you be able to test it out ahead of time? Because on wedding day any hiccups will mean unnecessary time and stress. But a rental company has done that type of ceiling draping many times and they’re prepared with all the right tools and back-up. The reality is that there are just some things that you shouldn’t skimp on.

I agree with this. Since it will be a focal point of the reception I would want it to be done by a professional. If it is not done right everyone will notice.

Yes, a major focal point requiring a LOT of fabric to look nice. So there’s no room for mess-ups. I also wouldn’t want myself or any of my guests to be stressed out, standing on tall ladders, attempting to do this decor for the very first time.

Check with your venue first to see if you are allowed to hire someone to attach things to their ceiling. Some don't allow it and some only allow you to hire certain people. Usually because of the ceiling height, normal people (you) don't have the equipment needed to reach it and attach it properly to prevent damage. I'd hate for you to buy something and not be able to use it or lose your deposit for attaching something not approved.

Yes I agree with other people. I am all for DIY but there are certain things that should be done by a professional like ceiling drapes unless you have a family member or friends who knows how to install them Then go for it, if not have spend the money and go with a professional. Also ask your venue. I’m getting my delinking drapes included with the catering package I got through my vendor
