Reception before Ceremony?

Allie, on September 16, 2015 at 9:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I read a post this week about someone who had (or is having) their reception before their ceremony. Can anyone link me to that? Now I can't find it! Thank you! Smiley smile

We are having a sort of reception before the ceremony, we'll have a sort of cocktail hour with drinks and food (both a stationary table with all sorts of breads and spreads and various appetizers as well as passed around apps). Then we'll have the ceremony and then we'll have the dinner and dancing. Is that what you mean?

I've also been to what is called here an "upside down wedding" which is becoming very popular where I live and it's dinner first, then the ceremony, and then dancing. Happy to answer any questions on either to the best I can.

    Bump!

I know what you're talking about but I can't remember who it was ...

Did you comment on it by any chance @Allie? If you did, you'll be able to find it under your 'comments' tab in your Watchlist!

Botty, I love that idea of cocktails first. It's very popular in my area, especially in NYC, where it's tough to get everyone to the ceremony on time. The cocktail hour may be more compelling for people actually arrive when you want them to, but I love that flow! Usually the ceremony is a bit less formal, at least in the ones that I've done, with less of a bridal party. In some of them, there really isn't a processional; the couple and I just come through the room, invite everyone to join us and start!

One of my colleagues is a rabbi, and we talk every Monday, lol. Many of his weddings do cocktail hours first. I think it's a really fun idea!

@Botty that is such a great idea!! I know I had seen a few people mention doing this and was curious about it! Thanks!

@WW Christina I didn't comment on it, but I didn't know about that feature either! So now I wish I did! Thanks for the tip!!
