Reception Alcohol

Chelsea, on January 4, 2020 at 10:09 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8
My fiancée and I are trying to figure out alcohol for our reception and I’m curious what everyone plans on doing or did at their reception.

We provide our own alcohol for our reception and we’re trying to keep it within a reasonable budget while also trying to provide alcohol that everyone will drink.
How did you figure out what beer, liquor, and wine to serve and how did you figure out how much to purchase?

We are doing Sangria, Pinot grigio, 1 type of beer, and frozen margaritas. Using a calculator for ours too.

I would keep it limited to wine and beer and then maybe 1 signature cocktail to make things simpler

We're doing wine (a red and a white), 2 types of beer, 2 boozy punch type of drinks, and then soda, water, lemonade. If someone can't find something to drink with those options, oh well. There are several calculators out there to help decide how to to plan for quantity. I do recommend having more than you initially think for non alcoholic choices. We are having a set amount of alcohol (2 half barrels, a case of each wine, and 10 gallons of each kind of punch for 150 (not all adults and not everyone drinks) guests for the 6ish hour reception) and when it's gone...it's gone. But there will be plenty of non alcoholic options if/when the need arises...

My FH and I used this at first.

Then my FSIL told us about Total Wine. They have a consultant that will sit down with you and go over how much you would need for your wedding. The best part is that they give discounts when you buy in bulk. If you have a total wine near you, I highly suggest you check it out!

Do you know if they allow you to return unopened bottles/cases?
