We played a game that sort of resembles musical chairs and the prize was my centerpiece (a floral wreath). I will post a description of the game. My DJ didn't do the "simon says" part, he just made everyone sit down after a few rounds - the person that had the dollar last, got to keep the dollar, and the person that provided the dollar was the winner of the prize! My guests really enjoyed the game!

    Musical Money

This game can be played for the table centerpieces at a formal shower, or at a wedding reception. Have your DJ or a shower guest play some music while you tell ONE person at each table to take out a dollar bill. As the music begins, pass the dollar around the table, make the direction of the dollar bill change a few times, and then much like musical chairs, when the music stops, the action stops. After the people have been put through the ringer, say “Simon Says go back to your table. Simon says give the dollar back to the person who took it out of their wallet, because THEY are the person who wins the centerpiece!!!!” Everyone will get a good laugh at the fact that these people did these silly things and STILL did not get the centerpiece… makes for great photos as well!.

It’s not weird not to have any. I don’t know that we’ll do any. I think they’re fun at some weddings and not a great fit for others.

I had a few ideas. For example, a photo shoot with things that go with our theme for our wedding, and then dollar dance with the mothers and the fathers of the bride and groom. And then I kind of want to do a charity for bullying because my daughter gets bullied a lot for being Autistic

The dollar dance I just found out recently is a regional thing. It was a norm when I was growing up. Put the bride and groom on the dance floor and then each person pays a dollar to dance with one of them for a a little bit. If you have a family full of characters you'll get people who will try to "cut" in line and pay more so they can dance longer. The kids really enjoy it bc it gives them that one on one time with the bride or groom.
