Reasonable budget for ma wedding?

Allie, on April 18, 2018 at 4:47 PM Posted in Massachusetts Planning 0 17
Hi MA Brides! I am starting to plan my wedding and it seems like the average cost of a wedding in MA is $40K. I was planning on setting my budget to around $25-30k for up to 80 people, so I can have a wedding with all decent vendors. What are your budgets and how do you feel about it in regards to getting everything you want?

We spent 22k on 128 guests (116 adults, 12 kids) for our lunchtime reception. We saved money by keeping florals minimal and not hiring a videographer. Our cake had almost no design work also which kept the price down. Because we got married during the day, we didn’t need uplighting and we chose not to have a photobooth. We got everything we did want, and the day went great so I feel great about what we spent.

We are spending around $25,000 for 100 people. It all depends on the area, type of venue, what is included etc. The closer you get to Boston the higher the price will be, but there are ways around that. You could do a Friday night wedding, or a date that isn't as popular (winter weddings are gorgeous and not as much $&dollarSmiley winking. We are having ours on a Friday because our venue would only rent the ballroom out on a Saturday for 150 people or more, I was disappointed but it worked out financially for us. NH has some gorgeous venues as well and some are less expensive than MA.

Not gonna lie. We thought 15k was a good budget. But after the venue ("all included"), paid for my dress, paid for the photographer we were over budget. So I guessing after everthing is done we will have spent around 18k lol

I'm getting married in Northern CT, so similar prices to MA and our Budget is 25k including everything (rings/dress/etc etc) for 110, but we are skipping flowers and I'm making the invitations myself. If you are close to Boston (pretty much anywhere inside 495 or South Shore) that budget is probably a little tight. Anywhere else in the area you should be okay. You can find some deals, but expect to be quoted like 1-2k more than people on here say for stuff. (I laugh when people say a DJ is $400. I got 15 quotes from every DJ around, and the cheapest was $1200) If you head towards NH or VT you will definitely save money, but that all depends on what is most important to you.

Oh hunny you can get it lower than 40k for 80 people! The Harding allen estate is where I'm getting married and they are like a one stop shop which saved us tons of money. We have 300 and are looking at 30k. Find out what's SUPER important to you and everything else find bargains for. Good luck!

What venue did you decide on? I have around 100 people we're inviting, and I'm trying to keep it as low budget as possible but still achieve the traditional wedding I've dreamt of

We're spending $30k for 148 guests. We are getting married on Sunday in order to stay within budget.

Cocktail hour, sit down dinner with dessert, open bar, minimal florals, no cake (maybe a cake made out of wheels of cheese), two photographers, DJ.

My first wedding (June 2014) cost $15,000 for 120 people. It included open bar and passed hors d'oeuvres not plated. It was on a Saturday later afternoon at a country club. Unfortunately they filed bankruptcy this year, or I'd recommend them. It's definitely possible to get married in MA for far less than $40k. The flowers were real, too. It all depends on what you want. Try and determine the high and low ends you'd be willing to spend on each item, and you might even find yourself coming in under budget. Good luck! MA has some great wedding spots.
