Real Rings with Ring Bearer?

Amber, on July 25, 2017 at 9:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

So like the title says, I'm curious how many other couples let (are going to let) their ring bearer carry the real rings down the aisle. I'm concerned something may happened to them and would rather have the little guy carry fake rings. However, the FH is throwing a fit and stating "What's the point" if he doesn't carry the real rings. For reference, the little guy will be 4 by our wedding date.

They carry fake rings. BM has the real ones. I would never give a small child our rings.

I mean, he's not going to be running around with them before the wedding. I plan on giving them to him almost as he starts walking down the isle. I understand your fear though, but I think there are ways around it

They're carrying the real ones, but they're older... 5 and 8 I think. Plus, we got a little wooden box that closes, so it should be okay. Hopefully.. at least.

My sister's ring bearer did, but then he was 10. Her flower girl was 9. Both kids were impeccably behaved, or they wouldn't have been there.

I strongly encourage the RB to carry fake rings. The real ones should be with the Best Man or officiant. I have seen too many pillows thrown and freak accidents to trust thousands of dollars to a little kid, no matter how short of a distance he walks.

I wouldn't let a 4 year old carry the rings. Our was 14 (H son) so we let him carry them in a ring box and he presented the rings when it was time.

I'm definitely not risking giving these to my RB.. I have 2.. one is 3 and the other is 5. I'd rather not have to worry about it. They will have fake ones.

We did, but he was six and very sensible. Plus they were in a box not on a pillow. My sister tried, but my nephew (he was four) forgot the pillow and left it on a table at the back of the church. Luckily I saw it as I came in, grabbed it and handed it off to my mum as I went past her.

Mine carried a sign and I'm glad that's all he dropped the sign and fell in the most adorable way possible down the aisle (he's four and his cousins, FGs, were draggin him down the aisle lol).

I'm going to give my 6 year old son the real rings, but he is being told he is ring security and he has to protect them lol.

@jgct I hope there's a picture of that lol. I'd love to see that

Our ring bearer is going to be just shy of 4 years old. He will be taking fake rings for sure. You never know what will happen lol

Mine will be 4 and for that reason I'm thinking this might be the safest way. LoL

I'm giving my grandson our real rings. He's 7. He will be ring security, rings in a brief case. Here's a picture of how he will look. He is responsible.

Our officiant will have the rings. Our 6 year old son will have a sign that either reads " has anyone seen the rings" or "don't sorry ladies im still single" haven't decided yet.

My first wedding, my nephew was almost 3. He carried fake rings tied to the heart pillow. The BM held the real ones.

Ours was a bit younger and carried an empty box. When he got to the end of the aisle, he sat with him mom in the first pew (who had our rings on her finger). When it was time to exchange rings, his mom put them in the box and he carried them up to the pastor. Short distance = low risk!

We let him(he's 8) carry the real rings in a small secured wooden box. He kept them safer than my dad who almost left them on a random table until one of my cousins noticed them. Our ring bearer was made aware of how expensive they were

Amber, if your little man is mature enough at 4 years old then it's okay to let him carry the real rings. Otherwise, the Best Man can hold the bride's ring and MOH can hold the Groom's ring. Best wishes!
