Ranunculus?

*~WiiFeY~*, on January 5, 2011 at 12:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Anyone know about them? Have any of you used them? I wondering about their availability in June and the price. I'm not really a flower girl, and we're using wheat for our bout's and a lot of other things, so I'm trying not to spend TOO much on flowers. But I love the way they look, and I've seen a few pictures of them in the colors that I want.

I think they are available year round, I know we used them in October. They come in a zillion colors and are inexpensive. They held up just fine for me!

According to this the Ranunculus bloom tipically from Jan-May. But like Analy said, they got them in October so I'm sure they are available year round. It sounds like since your wedding is so close to their bloom cycle they may be pretty inexpensive...

I love them! It's the closest I'll get to being rose-like lol. But definitely using some fake ones in the centerpieces.

I was planning to use them as well but a local florist told me that in June around here they would be 25-50% higher in cost, so sadly I scrapped them for something else. Maybe I need to talk to some other florists??

You should consider mixing them with peonies or something fuller because the heads can be a small sometimes. excellent choice ...

I love them--we used to have them in our garden when I was a kid. Iirc, they can have very large, full blooms, so it might just be a question of making sure you get a good selection, rather than having to mix them with something else.

@ cabell maybe when they are in full season?

cuz I've seen them at the wholesale and they can be quite small for the price.....

I've always considered them. but they cost too much to make a full bouquet

Ms. G- The picture I'm attaching is pretty much my flower inspiration. I'm assuming there are other flowers in the picture.. I'm just going to bring the florist that picture and see what they say Smiley smile

    Just lovely.....very romantic.

they are a little more sculpted than your other romantic flowers (english roses, peonies, hydrandeas....)

I'm sure your florist can put something lovely together using them

They are my favorite. I'm trying my best to get them in my bouquet (the majority of it!) My florist said they probably can but will only ship then & use them if they look GOOD. Otherwise we're using a back up flower.
