Rainy and cold for my outdoor wedding!!!

Jazmyn, on November 13, 2019 at 10:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I am soooo sad and frustrated and I don’t know what to do. It’s been in the high 60s and low 70s and all of a sudden the forecast is a high of 51 and 80% chance of rain on my wedding day (in 2 days). The venue has an indoor backup option but it’s just really ugly to me. It doesn’t show any of the beautiful features I loved about the venue. I never thought I would have to use it Smiley sad I just wish I could cancel everything. My wedding was originally supposed to be in September but long story short I got stuck with an outdoor venue for a November wedding so I knew it was possible but I guess I thought I was exempt from it. I have a headache 😓

I'm sorry to hear Smiley sad hey take it this way, you can still get gorgeous rainy cold weather photos in the outdoor part of your venue, regardless.

I’m sorry to hear this but have faith! The weather changes drastically and it might turn differently for you. I was in Disney a couple of weeks ago and it said 100% chance of rain, well it rained all morning and after 11 am the day took a huge turn and it was sunny, beautiful and very hot of how sunny it was. With the cold front and the wind it might take the rain away. Have faith!

You’re right. At least we’ll have pictures. I pray that even if it rains the day will still be perfect for us!

Relax and take a deep breath. Up until the night before our wedding they were forecasting rain all day, and it didn’t end up raining a drop until after our reception ended. We could not have asked for a more gorgeous day.

Here’s the thing... there’s so many aspects of your wedding you can control. The weather is not one of those things. Do not waste your stress or energy, and ruin this wonderfully special time, getting upset over something you can’t control.

One of the best quotes I ever heard was “life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” You have no control over the weather. You do have control over how you react to it. Is the story you’re going to tell your grandchildren someday about your wedding day going to be “it rained and was freezing and the venue was ugly and we had a horrible day and should’ve just cancelled” or is it going to be “it rained and was freezing but I didn’t even care because I married the love of my life and was surrounded by so much love and joy that I didn’t even care”

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way and I understand but remember the most important part about the day which is marrying your husband. The weather might change it it might not but you will still be married and I’m sure it will be beautiful. Focus on family and friends that are their to celebrate with you. While the venue is part of the beauty, the real beauty is in the love you share. Deep breathes and remember that you can’t do anything about the weather so find joy in other things. Congratulations and enjoy your day!

Haha thank you! Luckily for me the weather ended up not being an issue but there were sooo many other things that went wrong that I just had 0 control over...... several times throughout my wedding I found myself starting to get fumingly angry and then stopped myself and just decided I’m not going to be THAT bride... all the things that went wrong actually ended up being the funniest stories to look back on 🤷🏻‍♀️ And looking at my new husband and all my family and friends, it honestly felt wrong to spend even a moment not thinking about how lucky I was that day. There was just no room for negativity!

Everything started moving so fast and I never got the chance to reply to you guys. But I saw your comments and they were very helpful! You all helped me come to peace with having it outside. The rain ended up stopping just in time and we had it outside successfully! Thank you so much everyone
