Quote from the Florist

Kelly, on June 29, 2010 at 2:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

I spent about 2 hours with a florist and we figured out everything (bouquets, ceremony, reception, rentals and so on). I was really nervous for the quote, but it came out to be $5,429. I didn't think that was too bad, but also don't really have a good grasp on what flowers should cost. Does that seem reasonable?

It sounds above average, but it all depends on your entire wedding budget. Make sure you talk to several florists.

It's hard to know whether this is a good quote without knowing where you're located and what you're getting. I'm paying $700 for all of our flowers so your number sounds really high to me...

    What types of flowers?

That's a bit to0o much in my opinion but it depends on the flowers and what you are renting.

The person that did mine charge me $300 something but i did do my own bouquet and the same with my bridesmaid and centerpieces

I dunno what all you are getting, but mine is around $2100 for 8 table centerpieces, 7 bouquets, 6 corsages, 13 boutonnieres, spray of flowers for the church, and 2 other table pieces. Not sure if that helps!

    That includes:

    - my bouquet (Freesia, gardenias, white lisanthus, white sweet peas, yellow fresia, orange mokara orchids, orange spray roses, green leaves)

    - 6 bridesmaids bouquets (Orange and yellow zinnias, orange and yellow gerber daisies, yellow freesia, watermelon godetia, pom pom orange and yellow dahlias, orange and yellow star of bethlehem, green leaves)

    - 2 flower girl baskets covered in roses

    -white gardenias for my hair

    - 7 boutonnières (white lisanthus for the groom, yellow for everyone else)

    - flowers for the mothers and grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers

    -white runner for the church

-2 tall altar arrangements (renting 5' tall stands, delphinium, snapdragons, zinnias, dahlias, godetta, gerber daisies, hydrangeas)

    - 16 pew arrangements (Hydrangeas, gerber daisies, godetta, zinnia, star of Bethlehem, greenery)

    - 2 wreaths (same as pew arrangements)

    - petals/candles/vase for windows

    - unity candle arrangement

    - 100 cones filled with petals for tossing

    - toss away bouquet

    - cake flowers

    - all the table centerpieces and rentals (again same flowers as above)

and i think thats it. We're transferring all the flowers from the ceremony and using them at the reception. They do all that for us.

Okay see for my neck of the woods that's a really good price. Fairhope AL... Yes alabama is really expensive in flowers, no lie... So for us the amount of flowers and types of flowers, it's a good price.

@Erica- ok that makes more sense now. Are you renting tables and/or linens from them too? Either way I think it sounds pretty reasonable for all the flowers you are getting and the fact that they are going to transfer things from ceremony to reception. From what I've heard NY is a bit pricier.

Ours is $1350- 3 boquets, 4 boutineers, 2 corsages, decorated archway for ceremony, petals for aisle, 11 centerpieces, head table centerpiece and petals for cake table.

we are using mainly orchids gerber daisy, and roses with some other fillers. The florist had said we could cut our price a bit by taking out the orchids but FS said no way.

Sounds pretty good. Gardenias are really expensive! I wanted them, but my florist said they're $24 each because they're so fragile! For that amount of flowers and the type you're getting, I think it's a great price!
