Questions to ask prospective Day of Coordinator?

CoffeeNColor, on October 28, 2016 at 9:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

FH and I went to an expo and won a drawing for a discounted DOC package. We're meeting with her for a complimentary consultation this weekend to see if we click. What are some good questions to ask?

Right now I have:

1) How long have you been in business?

2) Have you ever handled an event at my venue?

3) Do you have experience with Jewish weddings?

4) We have already booked X,Y,Z, do you have recommendations for A and B? What order should we be doing things in?

5) [Costs and logistical questions]

Thanks!

That's an awesome thing to win!! I didn't get a DOC, but this is a list of questions specifically for a prospective planner that you might be able to adapt for a DOC https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-ideas/etiquette-advice/10-questions-to-ask-a-wedding-planner

I think the key thing with any vendor meeting is to get an understanding of their experience, their professionalism, and their personality. So, questions like...

What kinds of couples and weddings do they typically work best with?

How did they get into coordination? What's their background? What's their strength?

What is the process like? What will they be doing for you? What won't they be doing for you?

What will working with them on the wedding day be like? Have them walk you through a wedding day.

What is the biggest challenge or emergency or mistake they've faced in the past and how did they handle it?

How many weddings do they do on a weekend?

    Do they have a team?

What happens if they can't make the wedding?

    Do they have liability insurance?

I second what happens if they can't make it. A lot of contracts mention in case of mother nature accidents, they are not responsible.
