Question: Vistaprint invitations

Melissa, on December 4, 2013 at 8:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

So I decided to order my invitations (70) including RSVP and reception cards from VP vs DIY from scratch. I bought a groupon $20 for $60 and using a discount code from retailmenot.com. Plus I got some free items (banner, pen and a mug) Total came to $186, my cost is $53.

My question though is about envelopes. VP doesn't provide an envelope to put your invitation in, I only see the one they provide (6x9) to address for mailing it. How did you ladies mail your invitations without that envelope?

I am actually purchasing my inner and outer envelopes through cardsandpockets.com because they're nicer. The ones that came from vistaprint are kind of flimsy lookin and remind me of junk mail. I did the same promotions you got, so saved a ton on the invites so I did choose to spend more on the envelopes

I can't answer your question but I've been searching for the link to the free banner from Vista print. Do you still have it?

I am ordering my invites (not for a while) and my STD's (soon) from there and I was wondering, is that coupon code for $20 for $60 still available? IDK what I am gonna do about envelopes yet. So what envelopes do their invites and RSVP cards come with on VP?

Amanda that's a great idea. I like the quality of cardsandpockets.com. I'll just have to make sure I order the right size envelopes.

Kelly, here's the free banner link: http://www.vistaprint.com/free-custom-banners.aspx?GP=12%2f4%2f2013+8%3a32%3a04+AM&GPS=3033481911&GNF=1

Ashley, yes the groupon is still available for a few more days. The envelopes you get with invitations are just plain white basic envelopes. Like Amanda stated above, she's going to order envelopes from somewhere else. I got my STDs from there and used their envelopes to mail those out though.

VP does provide envelopes. White envelopes when you order or you can order personalized ones.

@Melissa- the invitations from vistaprint are quite large. I decided I'm going to trim them down to a 5x7 which is easy to do since I'm doing a simple design. I would definitely wait to order envelopes until you receive your VP order. Good luck! I'm sure they'll turn out beautifully.

Guys, where do I get the $20 for $60 coupon? On retailmenot.com?

KT it is a groupon deal. Once you apply your groupon, you can go through retailmenot to get more discounts.

For example, I put in a big order that was $348 originally but I paid $100.95 + $15 for a $15 for $45 groupon deal. So $116 total! Sweet deal.

@Amanda, I thought they were large myself. I haven't ordered them yet. Mine just has a color border around it I could trim down to a 5x7. What size were the RSVP cards...standard 3x5?

KT, go to www.groupon.com and search for Vistsprint.

You can also upgrade the vistaprint envelopes, and it's not much extra. This is what I was planning to do- does any one know if the upgraded, personalized envelopes are flimsy too?

I plan to buy my invitations from Etsy, but haven't bought them yet. I see this groupon expires Dec 31st. I hope there will be more groupons when the time comes for me to print my invitations!

Melissa- The inserts are approx. 4.25" x 7.25"

I am planning to trim all the pieces except the RSVP and round the corners to dress them up a bit. I also did the linen paper for all of them except the RSVP postcard and they turned out nice. I ordered way early so that I could DIY the rest and take my time on them.

Photo 1: The original (6x9) invite next to the trimmed down one and all the inserts

Photo 2: The envelopes that come with the order

I hope this helps you or someone else looking to order from VP!

I ordered 5x7 invites which I've read are more like 5x6.5ish. I haven't gotten them yet but we'll see when they come!

Here is the free banner I am getting for my gift/guest book table at the reception. My colors are fuchsia, black and silver. Also here are the invites I planned on ordering. I think I should be able to cut them down to 5x7 and trim down the inserts. I have 5 extras I can play with. Plus a free mug I made for myself, other side has our wedding date.

Try LCIPaper.com. I handmade my invitations from scratch and theyre a weird size so it took ages to find an envelope that would fit right, and the only one i found was at LCIPaper

    You're welcome Ashley.

Thanks Jackie, I'll check it out once I get my invitations and see if I can trim them down smaller.
